HOW
IT STARTED
I’ve
always had the drive to do something creative…
Singing didn’t work, neither did clarinet lessons. Art has always
been my “thing”. In College, I majored in Art History, with
a second major in Fine Arts-Design. Having dabbled in painting, drawing,
weaving, textile arts... I was still searching for that perfect obsession.
During a visit, my brother-in-law asked if we had a local bead shop…
a few hours later…I was hooked!
Since all my friends and family only have “so many” birthdays
and special occasions, my husband suggested I do something with “the
mountain” that has been taking over our living room... I don’t
think this is what he had in mind, but here we are.
I have two very busy, talented children, and a wonderful husband that
are all so supportive. My daughter actually gave the name to my business
when at age 3 she wanted me to “look beyond the beads” and
see what she was doing. I hope to get her more involved in beading too
(more than just “Wow, Mom! can I have that one too”). My son
is a very helpful assistant (hopefully attaching all those hang-tags will
pay off someday! I’m hoping for college tuition…he wants the
latest “tech gadget”!). My husband is my rock, my builder,
my sanity, my ‘critical eye’, my best friend, and the one
that puts up with the mess I have made of our house (it has grown beyond
the living room)!
WHAT
IS NEXT? (this
is where I confess that I have always been a “pyro” at heart!)
When people ask me what I do...I get to tell them I Play with
FIRE!
I've been lampworking for the past few years and love it. So much that
my wonderful husband has built me my very own studio! It was a labor of
love, and I am thrilled!
If you want to see the process, here are a few pictures of my "shed"!!
The newest creations are showcased in My
Etsy Store and at various art fairs & festivals in the PNW.

I started, here are just a few of my first treasures from 2004...
